Artist Statement

Kiko Sweeney is a cinematographer based in Los Angeles, with strong ties to the Pacific Northwest. She credits leading young people up 12,000 foot volcanic peaks as essential to her creative development, alongside her education at Colorado College and Loyola Marymount University. Kiko is a recent MFA graduate in Cinematography from LMU, where she was recognized as the Outstanding student of her program.

Through her work on drama, comedy and documentary films, Kiko centers stories from underrepresented communities and environmental advocacy. With a collaborative spirit and can-do attitude, Kiko works diligently to ensure that every frame underscores the emotionality of the story using movement, light and texture. Films that explore the intersection of humanity and nature, like Nomadland and Y Tu Mamá También, influence Kiko’s visual style.
